Nigerian music sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has made a significant move by removing the highly controversial music video of his artist, Logos Olori, after facing a wave of negative feedback from the public.

The 45-second video, which was shared on Saturday, featured men dressed in white jalabia and caps, dancing in front of a mosque. Olori was also seen sitting on a speaker mounted on the roof of the building. The inclusion of the word “Alhamdulillah” (praise be to God) in the song’s lyrics did not sit well with a section of their fans, especially the Muslim community, who strongly condemned it.

Davido had originally posted the video on his Instagram account with the caption, “Allow me to re-introduce Logos Olori with his new single, ‘Jaye Lo.’ Let us run it up one time! Let’s take over the world. DMW.”

However, the post received severe backlash from numerous Muslims on social media, accusing the singer of disrespecting Islam and blending religious practices with song and dance.

In response to the growing pressure and criticism, Davido eventually decided to delete the video from his social media platforms. Despite remaining mostly silent on the matter and offering no formal apologies, the artist made the move to take down the contentious content.

As of Monday, a visit to Davido’s page showed that the video in question was no longer available, signaling his acknowledgment of the sensitivities involved and a bid to quell the controversy.

This incident serves as a reminder of the need for artists and public figures to exercise cultural sensitivity and awareness when creating content that may intersect with religious practices and beliefs. Davido’s response shows a willingness to listen to the concerns of his audience and take appropriate action in response to their feedback.
