Soldiers Fire Shots as Hoodlums Seize Trucks, Loot Food Supplies in Niger State

In a concerning incident on Thursday, suspected hoodlums hijacked trailers loaded with foodstuff in the Suleja Area of Niger State, prompting soldiers to intervene with gunfire.

Eyewitness Alhassan Abdullahi reported that multiple trailers en route from Abuja to Kaduna were obstructed by the hoodlums, who set fire to tires on the road. The situation escalated as the perpetrators brazenly looted numerous bags of assorted food items, particularly rice, before military personnel arrived at the scene.

Abdullahi recounted, “It took the intervention of soldiers who arrived at the scene and began firing gunshots into the air to disperse the hoodlums. Nevertheless, many managed to abscond with bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, and other essential food supplies.”

He further revealed that commercial motorcycle riders were reportedly contemplating a protest, which was delayed for unspecified reasons.

This incident unfolds against the backdrop of widespread hardship across the nation, triggering protests in various regions.
