The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, Olusola Odumosu, delivered a stark caution to 280 personnel under his command regarding the possibility of accidental discharge during duty.
This admonition was given during the inauguration of a three-day training program for the arms squad unit of the command, held in Abuja.
Commandant Odumosu emphasized the importance of diligence and professionalism in arms handling. He firmly stated, “We will not condone any trigger-happy personnel. We frown upon any intimidation and harassment of members of the public. While being civil in the discharge of your duty, also be firm against criminally-minded people.”
A total of 280 personnel, selected from various area commands, divisional offices, and units of the command, are undergoing training in the latest techniques of arms handling. Upon completion of their training, they will be strategically deployed across key locations within the FCT.
Commandant Odumosu underscored that the NSCDC upholds high standards and will not tolerate any lapses in performance.
Earlier, the Unit Commandant of the command, John Stephen, highlighted that the NSCDC has devised new strategies to address the evolving security challenges in the FCT. He emphasized that this training initiative serves as a crucial platform for imparting these strategies to the personnel operating in the field.
This proactive approach by the NSCDC reflects a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety among its personnel, ultimately contributing to the overall security and well-being of the community.
