JUST-IN: Protesters Storm PDP Secretariat, Demand Wike’s Suspension

In a significant turn of events, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reform Vanguard staged a protest at the PDP Secretariat in Abuja, calling for the suspension of Nyesom Wike and the resignation of Umar Damagun from his position as the acting national chair of the PDP. The group expressed dissatisfaction with the alleged anti-party conduct of both figures, accusing them of undermining the party’s unity and integrity.

The protest, which occurred ahead of the PDP’s planned National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, saw Usman Seidu, the convener of the group, addressing reporters. Seidu commended Dr. Iyorchia Ayu for demonstrating loyalty to the party by withdrawing pending lawsuits, thus allowing the party to move forward and restore integrity to its leadership.

However, Seidu criticized the continued presence of Amb. Iliya Damagun and Nyesom Wike within the party, describing it as detrimental to the party’s interests. He called for Damagun’s removal from his position as acting national chairman, citing the need for a replacement who embodies the spirit of the party and works for its advancement.

Regarding Wike, Seidu highlighted concerns about his alleged alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC), which was rewarded with his appointment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The group viewed Wike’s association with the APC as a betrayal of the party’s trust and called for decisive action to address the issue.

The PDP Reform Vanguard emphasized the importance of the NEC taking decisive action against individuals who betray the party’s trust to maintain the faith and support of loyal members nationwide.

Meanwhile, it was noted that Wike had attended the PDP’s national caucus meeting on Wednesday, further highlighting the significance of the demands made by the Reform Vanguard.
